After going through the second stage of the setup, after getting confused with which key is what in the license page. My exchange server is still up and fully functional which in my books is a win. Seemed a bit bland and also spotted some layout issues with IE8. Had a look around though and seems to do a fair bit more than 4.
Seems easy to setup both the source and destination servers little confused now on where I select the users… Found the guide. And managed to work out you have to hit the summary, and then find users. The preview of the migration seemed to look ok, so I went for the real thing. Another step that could take seconds… a little while to parp myself while I see if it works. Finally I got the migration complete pop up.
Restart the phone? All is good. Update: Just to add, using the BlackBerry Transporter I have managed to move over all my users without them even noticing! Update: What is in the licensing window and what you get when you register are named diffrent, just scanned had a look though, this is how they match up:. I thought you just did a virtualisation project, couldn't you carve a new server out for the BESE Bessie?
That's my fear, that I install it with Exchange and one of them borks. Thanks for this! I've downloaded it but I haven't had time to install it yet, mainly because I wasn't sure about the install procedure, never using any sort of back end BB software, and neither do I have a BB. However, quite a few of my users do, and the ability to get them directly linked to our server and not have to use the carriers services is a real plus.
Just to add, using the BlackBerry Transporter I have managed to move over all my users without them even noticing! Thank you for the info Andy.
Out of curiosity, I'm along the lines of what Limey was mentioning regarding installing this on a separate server. I haven't found much info on the install your guide is the best so far.
During the install, are there actually appropriate prompts to install on a server that is not the Exchange server? Everything I looked at instructions wise seem to point to installing it directly on the Exchange Server. Campbell Technology Consulting is an IT service provider. All the docu i found mentioned about installing it on the same server as well, seems to be working fine for me This is awesome! We just ran out of licenses on our Bberry Pro 4. This project is now on my queue to migrate to BESE.
Your write-up will be very helpful moving forward. Same here. We have maxed out our BES Small Business server and I intend to do an uninstall and clean install on the present server after recording all of my current licenses in case we ever upgrade to the Enterprise version at some point. If I have time, I will report on a clean install variation. Once installed, connect your smartphone to your computer and you will automatically be prompted to update.
From there, simply click Install Update to update your software. To get started, on the Home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.

Hi I've been told the Blackberry handheld software firmware can be updated without plugging any cables and this can be set up on the Blackberry Enterprise Server to automatically update all Blackberries activated with it.
