Setup outlook 2010 for hotmail

As we all have used many Email client applications and webmail services provided by Microsoft like Outlook, Office , Exchange Server, etc. Similarly, Hotmail is also a webmail client , which is provided by Microsoft.

If anyone wants to configure Hotmail to Outlook, then two options that users can use as per their choice:. To forward Outlook. It is an outdated method and no longer required to connect to your Outlook. If users want to use Outlook Connector, then they need to download Outlook Connector first. This will start the server configuration settings check. This will take a while to get successful. So you login to 'your microsoft account' on the web using your hotmail credentials, then you add an alias to your account information section - using whatever hasn't been taken outlook.

Once you have created that 'alias , next i n Outlook when you add an account it automatically configures it as an Exchange account and NOT a rubbish MAPI hotmail connector!!! I am sure this information is not published anywhere, and I am sure MS want everyone to buy the latest version of Outlook which is why they may be quite tight lipped about this issue.

Anyway - I hope it helps someone someday with the same issue who is perfectly happy with good 'ol Outlook ! Thank you for sharing the solution here. I registered a Hotmail. I've searched for a long time and haven't found any documentation stating this behavior, thus I cannot confirm whether this is a limitation or an expected behavior.
